Eat App alternative

Eat App Alternatives for Restaurants (2026)

Eat App runs its waitlist as one booking type inside a reservation system, and its plan matrix ticks the door QR code and online waitlist only on Pro, though an older block on the same page sells the online waitlist as an add-on. TablesReady is built around the waitlist, with guest self check-in on the free plan, and Business adds online bookings and a floor plan. Stay with Eat App if most of your covers are booked, or you rely on its guest CRM and marketing or its Gulf and India booking channels.

Which fits your business: TablesReady or Eat App?

Pick TablesReady

You take bookings and watch the monthly bill

For example: a neighborhood restaurant that books its large parties ahead

Both apps take online bookings and run a floor plan; TablesReady puts both in Business (from $79/mo, or $69/mo billed annually), with 1,000 texts a month on its entry tier for US and Canadian numbers. Eat App's plan matrix ticks the QR code and online waitlist only on Pro, its top self-serve plan, and the cheaper routes on the same page run through paid add-ons. At 1,000 parties a month (2,000 texts), the table below puts our Business under Eat App's Core, the cheapest plan whose allowance covers those texts, on monthly and annual billing alike.

Pick Eat App

Most of your covers are booked, and you seat by table and server

For example: a full-service dining room with set seatings and a team of servers

Eat App groups tables automatically for online bookings, rotates new parties across servers by tables, covers or bookings, and lets you create your own booking statuses with colors and icons. Its importer builds tables from a PNG or PDF of your floor plan, and its Cover Flow and Table Turns views pace the night slot by slot. TablesReady Business also has a drag-and-drop floor plan with live table status, but you draw it yourself, managers combine tables by hand, statuses are fixed, and you get round-robin seating and color sections rather than a server rotation.

Pick TablesReady

Most of your guests walk in and wait for a table

For example: a brunch spot, a bar or a casual restaurant that doesn't take bookings

On TablesReady's free plan, guests add themselves to the waitlist from a check-in page opened with a QR code at the door, and each party can get a text or an automated voice call when its table is ready. Eat App's plan matrix ticks the door QR code and online waitlist only on Pro, though the same page also sells the online waitlist as an add-on. We found no voice calls or kiosk mode in Eat App's public material; both come with TablesReady Free.

Pick Eat App

You want POS spend and marketing on every guest profile

For example: a restaurant group on Lightspeed or Micros that emails its regulars

Eat App lists more than 30 POS systems, including Lightspeed, NCR Aloha and Oracle Micros, with Toast, Clover and TouchBistro on request (a paid add-on on Core, included on Pro). Seating a party opens a ticket, the booking finishes when the check closes, and the spend lands on the guest's profile, where its CRM segments regulars for email and WhatsApp campaigns and loyalty. TablesReady connects only to Square (Business), which brings orders onto the list but no table status or spend; our guest list (every plan) shows visit counts, and texts can link to a marketing or loyalty sign-up you run elsewhere.

Pick Eat App

Your guests book through Gulf or India apps, or on WhatsApp

For example: a hotel restaurant in Dubai, or a group taking Zomato and Swiggy bookings

Eat App runs its own diner booking app in six Gulf and Levant countries, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and takes bookings from Zomato, Swiggy, Careem and the Michelin Guide; guests can chat with you over WhatsApp on every paid plan, and on Pro an AI chatbot books them in. TablesReady has no diner network, though Reserve with Google puts your bookings and waitlist on Google Search and Maps (Business). Outside the US and Canada, our plans include a tenth of the US message allowance, and WhatsApp messages go one way.

Its plan matrix ticks the QR and online waitlist only on Pro and Enterprise.

Eat App: Texts past a plan's allowance cost local carrier rates.

*Assumes 2 text messages per party, the median across TablesReady restaurants. TablesReady counts 160-character segments; Eat App doesn't say how it counts long texts. Each row shows the cheapest published option that covers that many parties, extra-use charges included.

Texting pauses at your monthly limit. You get alerts at 80, 90 and 100%, and can add messages in one click.

At 2,000 texts a month, Eat App's Core plan includes the texts, but its plan matrix doesn't tick the online waitlist. Pro ticks both the online waitlist and deposits, and costs $389 a month. Our Business plan includes guest self check-in, online bookings, the floor plan and Stripe deposits at every tier in the table, with a 2% TablesReady fee on deposits plus Stripe's fees. Each Eat App plan also includes a guest CRM, which does more than our guest list and custom properties.

Eat App

  • Free $0

Up to 100 guests a month in a reservation book, with 250 SMS a month per its help center. The plan matrix has no Free column.

  • Lite $99/mo, or $69/mo billed yearly

Unlimited guests and 500 SMS a month. Online reservations, table management, the staff waitlist, reservation messages, a guest CRM with tags and a WhatsApp and Instagram chat inbox. The older block calls this tier Starter, with a 300-cover monthly cap.

  • Core $199/mo, or $159/mo billed yearly

2,000 SMS a month. Adds custom messages and widget branding, surveys and review management, email marketing, the automation suite and AI tools. POS and payment integrations are paid add-ons on this plan. The older block calls it Essential.

  • Pro $389/mo, or $299/mo billed yearly

Unlimited SMS. Adds the door QR code and online waitlist, deposits and prepayments, POS and payment integration, a guest database shared across venues, loyalty, WhatsApp marketing, the AI chatbot and a dedicated success manager.

  • Enterprise Quote only

Groups of 8 or more venues on one guest record. Adds hotel PMS links and API access.

Eat App's pricing page contradicts itself. Below the new Lite, Core and Pro cards, an older block of plans (Free, Starter, Essential, Pro) at the same prices sells as add-ons what the new matrix bundles: the online waitlist, a custom widget and deposits at $19/mo each, custom messages, smart reports and email marketing at $39/mo each, and the automation suite at $49/mo. The new matrix ticks the QR code and online waitlist only on Pro, while a July 2026 capture listed them on the entry plan. On Core, payment and POS integrations cost +$39/mo each. The SMS allowances for Lite, Core and Pro are the ones the page shows a browser (its older block, and a version served to a plain HTTP request, say Contact us), and the 250 on Free comes from the help center, which says every plan gets 250 free SMS a month. Texts past the allowance are billed at local carrier rates. Billed yearly, Lite costs $69/mo, the same as TablesReady Business billed annually; Lite's matrix covers bookings, table management and the staff waitlist, but not deposits or guest self check-in, while it includes a guest CRM with tags and a WhatsApp and Instagram chat inbox.

Getting started: Sign up yourself with Google or email and try any plan for 14 days without a card, or book a demo first. Enterprise is quoted by sales, and API access and monthly SMS or WhatsApp bundles are arranged through support.

TablesReady

  • Free $0

The waitlist, guest self check-in by QR code or link, a website embed and basic reservations; the list stays in sync live on every device. Ready texts and automated voice calls, plus automatic confirmation and next-in-line texts. 150 messages a month (US and Canada; a tenth elsewhere) and up to 100 parties a month for each location, with up to two Free locations per account.

Unlimited users on every plan, each with their own login and an Admin, Manager or User role, or one shared login if your team prefers.

  • Starter from $39/mo, or from $34/mo billed annually

Everything in Free, plus two-way texting (US and Canadian numbers), AI-predicted wait times that learn overnight from your location's own history (turn them off if you'd rather quote waits yourself), and detailed analytics. From 1,000 messages and 2,000 parties a month, with higher tiers raising both; outside the US and Canada, messages are a tenth.

  • Business from $79/mo, or from $69/mo billed annually

Everything in Starter, plus online bookings, table management on a floor plan, Reserve with Google (bookings and waitlist joins), Square order sync, and Stripe deposits (2% fee plus Stripe's).

Custom properties to track VIPs, email addresses, allergies or anything else about a guest; saved replies for quick canned answers in chat; SMS automations (guests join by text, or reply with a keyword to cancel, confirm, check in or say they're running late); geofencing that limits check-in and booking to guests nearby; the to-go list, data exports, and an API and webhooks.

  • Enterprise Contact us

For groups: a dedicated account manager, custom terms, invoice billing, onboarding with set-up help and data migration, and phone support.

Texts are included in every plan, with no overage fees.

Why restaurants look for an Eat App alternative

Of the 53 Eat App reviews we found and read on Capterra, Trustpilot and the App Store, 25 mention how easily staff learn it and 17 praise fast, helpful support (Capterra, Trustpilot and App Store reviews of its iPad and iPhone apps). Complaints are fewer, and the first reason below comes from Eat App's own pricing page rather than from reviews.

Which plan lets guests join from their phones. The new plan matrix on Eat App's pricing page ticks the door QR code and online waitlist only on Pro, at $389/mo, or $299/mo billed yearly. An older block of plans further down the same page sells the online waitlist as a $19/mo add-on, and a July 2026 capture of the page listed it on the entry plan (Eat App pricing). Once it's on, the online waitlist appears by default only when no booking slot is free in the next two hours, and guests pick an arrival time (Eat App help center).

Texts on top of the plan. Three Capterra reviews, the newest from August 2026, say cover limits or buying texts separately pushed the cost up, and an August 2026 Capterra review asked for a plan with all texting included (Capterra reviews). Each Eat App plan carries a monthly SMS allowance, 250 on Free per its help center and 500, 2,000 or unlimited on Lite, Core and Pro per its pricing page, and texts past the allowance are billed at local carrier rates.

Options reviewers couldn't find. Eight reviews, the newest from September 2026, asked for more than Eat App gave them, including more customization, better loyalty tools, a hotel PMS sync, booking-channel tracking and guests' contact details in reports (Capterra and Trustpilot reviews). Eat App sells some of these on higher plans, including hotel PMS links on Enterprise and loyalty on Pro.

Bugs in bookings and the floor plan. Four reviews, the newest from September 2026, describe bugs, among them a double booking, a floor-plan editor that scrambled tables, and trouble with the booking widget and confirmation emails (reviews on Capterra and on the App Store for its iPad and iPhone apps).

Where Eat App does more than TablesReady

Eat App's home page leads with reservation software for restaurants and hotels. Beyond the table and POS tools in the situations above, it does more than we do in four areas:

  • Eat App tags guests automatically, shares one guest database across venues on Pro, and sends email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, with loyalty points and review replies on its higher plans. TablesReady keeps a guest list per location on every plan, with each guest's visit count and history, and any of our texts can carry a link to a review site, a survey, or a loyalty or marketing sign-up you run elsewhere.
  • On Pro, a card can be pre-authorized and charged when a guest doesn't show, payments run through 20+ gateways, and guests can buy tickets or add-ons as they book. TablesReady Business takes deposits through Stripe and keeps a deposit when a guest cancels inside your cancellation window.
  • Guests get booking emails as well as texts, chat with you over WhatsApp or Instagram on every paid plan, and see the booking widget in about ten languages. On every TablesReady plan, guests hear from you by text or an automated voice call, numbers outside the US and Canada can get one-way WhatsApp messages, and you can rewrite almost all guest-facing text in any one language.
  • Staff get mobile and iPad apps that work offline and sync when they're back online, plus two-factor sign-in and single sign-on, and every plan comes with support at any hour by chat, WhatsApp or phone. Its trust page lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. TablesReady runs in any browser, including Chrome on Android tablets and phones, and our native app is for iPhone and iPad. Staff can save it to the home screen. Staff sign in with email or Google, support is by email on weekdays (Enterprise adds phone support), and we hold no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.

Where TablesReady does more on the waitlist

  • When a table opens, TablesReady can ring the guest with an automated voice message, and an iPad can run as a self check-in kiosk that clears the form after each guest (both on Free). We found neither in Eat App's public material.
  • Guests can join the waitlist by texting the TablesReady number, and reply keywords let them cancel, confirm, check in or say they're running late, which moves their quoted time back by the minutes you set (both on Business). Eat App added confirm, cancel and late buttons inside its messages in July 2025; we found no join-by-text or SMS keyword replies.
  • A text can go out automatically when a party reaches the place in line you choose, and each text shows its delivery status, with a plain reason such as a landline number when one fails (both on Free). Eat App's help center lists no position-based text, though a February 2026 blog post describes a ten-minutes-to-go message, and it doesn't document delivery status.
  • Geofencing limits check-ins and bookings to guests within a distance you set, and guests can join the waitlist from Google Search and Maps (both on Business). We found neither in Eat App's material; its Google link takes bookings, which TablesReady Business also does.

Switching from Eat App

Most restaurants switch in an afternoon: import upcoming bookings by CSV, paste in your text wording, and run both side by side during the trial.

What carries over

  • Upcoming reservations. Eat App emails reservation reports as CSV files with the columns you pick, if your user role has the download permission. Keep the future bookings and upload them through our appointment CSV import (date, time, name, party size, phone, notes), which every TablesReady plan has, the free one too.
  • Your message wording. Copy each Eat App SMS template into the matching TablesReady message, where we have one, and swap its merge tags for ours, such as {name}, {quoted} and {link}.

What you set up again

  • Your guest list and tags. TablesReady has no customer import, so profiles fill in again from phone numbers as guests come back; download Eat App's CRM report for your records. VIP and allergy tags become custom properties on Business.
  • Your floor plan. Draw your rooms and tables by hand on TablesReady Business, and mark each table for walk-ins, bookings or both.
  • Shifts and pacing. Rebuild each Eat App shift as a TablesReady service with its own schedule, durations by party size and a per-slot limit (Business).
  • Google and your door sign. Turn on Reserve with Google bookings on TablesReady Business, and replace the Eat App QR code at the door with the one from our check-in page (Free).

Help with the move

On Starter and Business you import the data yourself, with email support on hand for set-up questions; Enterprise comes with set-up help and data migration. Eat App says you can cancel anytime, so run TablesReady's 14-day trial (no card, up to 150 texts) next to it for a few services before you cancel.

Eat App alternative FAQ

What is the best Eat App alternative?

It depends on how your guests arrive. For a restaurant where most guests walk in, or one that wants bookings on a tighter budget, we'd pick TablesReady. The waitlist, texts and self check-in come with the free plan, and Business adds online bookings, a floor plan and automatic guest replies from $79/mo. Look at SevenRooms for a deep guest CRM and marketing, Hostme for deposits, server rotation and campaigns at a published price, OpenTable or Resy for a diner network, and Toast Tables if you run Toast POS. We built TablesReady, so our pick isn't neutral.

Does Eat App have a waitlist?

Yes. Staff add walk-ins as reservations of the Waitlist type, guests get their wait and a Table Ready message by text, email or WhatsApp, and hosts seat them by dragging them onto the floor plan. Eat App's plan matrix ticks waitlist management on every paid plan, and the door QR code and online waitlist only on Pro, though the same pricing page also sells the online waitlist as an add-on. By default the online waitlist shows only when no booking slot is free within two hours. On TablesReady, the waitlist, a QR self check-in page and 150 texts a month (US and Canadian numbers; a tenth elsewhere) come with the free plan.

Does Eat App's free plan include text messages?

Yes. Eat App's help center says every plan gets 250 free SMS a month, and its pricing page gives Lite, Core and Pro 500, 2,000 and unlimited SMS a month, with texts past the allowance billed at local carrier rates. Eat App Free is limited to 100 guests a month in a reservation book, and the plan matrix has no Free column, so it doesn't show whether the waitlist comes with Free. TablesReady's free plan includes the waitlist, self check-in, basic reservations and unlimited users, and sends up to 150 texts a month to US and Canadian numbers (a tenth elsewhere) for up to 100 parties.

Does TablesReady have table management and a guest CRM?

Table management, yes. TablesReady Business has a floor plan you build by drag and drop, shows each table's live status, suggests a table for each party and lets hosts seat guests from the map. Some comparisons, including a September 2025 post on Eat App's blog, list TablesReady without table management; our help article on it dates from February 2024, and the Business plan included it when that post went up. The same post says TablesReady has no CRM, which is partly right. Every plan, Free included, keeps a guest list with each guest's visit history, but TablesReady has no marketing campaigns, loyalty program or POS spend on profiles; any text can link to a marketing or loyalty sign-up you run elsewhere.

Does TablesReady work with my POS the way Eat App does?

Only with Square, on Business. Square orders land on the TablesReady waitlist or to-go list, and completing an order in Square can send the guest's ready text. TablesReady doesn't sync table status or spend from a POS and has no Toast, Lightspeed or Micros integration. Eat App lists more than 30 POS systems, where seating opens a ticket and the booking finishes when the check closes. A restaurant on Toast POS that wants table status to follow its checks should look at Toast Tables.

Can TablesReady message guests on WhatsApp like Eat App?

Yes, one way, for guest numbers outside the US and Canada, on every plan, Free included. The ready and waitlist-confirmation messages go out as WhatsApp templates, and US and Canadian numbers get texts instead. Eat App does more here: two-way WhatsApp chat on every paid plan from the venue's own WhatsApp Business number, and on Pro an AI chatbot that takes bookings over WhatsApp.

How do I move from Eat App to TablesReady?

Have Eat App email you a reservation report as a CSV (your user needs the download permission), then import the upcoming bookings into TablesReady, which takes a reservation CSV on every plan, Free included. Guest profiles start over, because TablesReady has no customer import, and you draw the floor plan by hand on Business. On Starter and Business our email support helps with setup; data migration comes with Enterprise. Run the 14-day trial, with no card, alongside Eat App before you cancel.
