NextMe alternative
NextMe Alternatives for Restaurants and Walk-In Businesses (2026)
NextMe caps logins at 1, 5 or 10 users by plan, starts QR self check-in on its paid Starter plan, and only staff can create bookings. TablesReady gives every plan unlimited logins and QR self check-in, the free plan included, so you can set it up tonight, and later grow into a floor plan and online bookings on Business. NextMe's Starter covers more parties for the money between 501 and 1,500 a month. Stay with NextMe for several queues behind a branded waiting page, or a HIPAA BAA.

Which fits your business: TablesReady or NextMe?
Pick TablesReady
Every host, server and manager needs their own login
For example: a restaurant with a dozen staff across lunch and dinner shifts
Every TablesReady plan comes with unlimited users, Free included, so each person signs in as themselves, and you can set it up yourself tonight. NextMe allows 1 user on Free, 5 on Starter and 10 on Business, with flexible limits only on its quoted Custom plan, and its help center says shared logins are rate-limited. Our Free plan also has self check-in from a QR code or link, which NextMe starts on Starter.
Pick TablesReady
You seat parties at tables and take bookings ahead
For example: a full-service restaurant that fills its dining room and bar with weekend reservations
TablesReady Business (from $79/mo, or $69/mo billed annually) gives you a floor plan you draw yourself, with each table's live status, and an online booking page where guests book for themselves. NextMe's May 2023 help article says table management isn't offered yet, and its Bookings article says only the business can create a booking, so staff enter every one.
Pick TablesReady
Your hosts want to answer guests by text
For example: a guest texts to ask whether they can bring two more people
From Starter, TablesReady staff can start or answer a text conversation with any guest on a US or Canadian number, and unread replies wait in an inbox. NextMe guests reply with fixed numbers: 1 to confirm, 9 to cancel and, if the business turns it on, 3 for more time. We didn't find a way for NextMe staff to type their own reply in its help center, and bulk custom messages are listed as coming soon.
Pick NextMe
Your guests split across several lines and wait somewhere else
For example: a brand activation with a demo line and a merch line, or a store with separate service counters
NextMe runs parallel queues, each with its own wait estimate, a cap and a daily limit, and staff can move a guest to another queue, with an optional text, or notify or cancel a whole group at once. Each guest follows a branded Virtual Waiting Room page with their live place in line, a countdown to return and your own images and links (Starter). TablesReady keeps one shared list with service and staff columns (Business), and staff text each party on its own.
Pick NextMe
You check in patients or pets at a clinic front desk
For example: an urgent-care clinic or a veterinary hospital
NextMe signs a HIPAA business associate agreement on request, and on Starter its check-in form can require a waiver signed through Jotform, Smartwaiver or DocuSign before a guest joins. TablesReady doesn't sign a BAA, so protected health information has to stay out of guest names, notes and messages. For consent, a TablesReady text can link to an outside form and required custom properties (Business) cover simple questions, but neither is a waiver built into the app.
NextMe pricing and setup vs. TablesReady
NextMe prices are from its pricing page.
What each plan covers
Compared with TablesReady Starter
| Guest parties a month* | TablesReady Starter, monthly (billed annually) | NextMe, cheapest plan at this level or above |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | $39 ($34)1,000 messages | Starter: $59.99 ($49.99) |
| 1,250 | $69 ($59)2,500 messages | Starter: $59.99 ($49.99) |
| 1,500 | $99 ($84)5,000 messages | Starter: $59.99 ($49.99) |
| 2,500 | $99 ($84)5,000 messages | Business: $99.99 ($79.99) |
| 5,000 | $159 ($129)10,000 messages | Custom pricing, on request |
NextMe: Logins are capped at 5 on Starter and 10 on Business. Free gives 1 user 100 texts a month.
*Assumes 2 text messages per party, the median across TablesReady restaurants. TablesReady counts 160-character segments; NextMe doesn't publish a character limit or say how it counts long texts. Each row shows the cheapest published option that covers that many parties, extra-use charges included.
Texting pauses at your monthly limit. You get alerts at 80, 90 and 100%, and can add messages in one click.
On monthly billing, up to 500 parties a month, our Starter costs $21 less than NextMe's. From 501 to 1,500 parties, NextMe's Starter costs $9 to $39 less, and at 2,500 our Starter is within a dollar of NextMe's Business plan. NextMe's Starter allows 5 logins and its Business 10, and every TablesReady plan has unlimited users.
NextMe
Free $0
100 SMS a month, 1 user and 1 location. The waitlist, wait estimates, custom fields and queues, and a public waitlist display.
Starter $59.99/mo per location, or $49.99/mo billed annually
3,000 SMS a month and 5 users. Adds self check-in, the Virtual Waiting Room, staff-entered bookings, team management, co-branding and editable texts.
Business $99.99/mo per location, or $79.99/mo billed annually
5,000 SMS a month and 10 users. Adds white-label branding, analytics and reports, data exports and follow-up messages.
Custom Quote only
Flexible message and user limits, 1:1 training, SLAs, custom integrations and reports, and phone support.
The price and the SMS limit multiply with each location. Annual plans roll unused SMS over, aren't refunded after renewal, and can be switched to monthly within 14 days if bought by mistake. These prices match a December 2023 capture of the page; the Free plan dropped from 500 to 100 SMS between September 2024 and January 2025. NextMe's pages disagree on whether Free can edit texts or use WhatsApp.
Getting started: Self-serve, with a demo on offer. Start a 14-day trial with no card, limited to 1 location, 1 user and 100 messages, then pay by card in the app. Book a demo sits beside Try it free on every page, and Custom plans are quoted by sales.

Why restaurants and walk-in businesses look for a NextMe alternative
NextMe's first iPhone app came out in 2014, built by two Chicago founders. The product was rebuilt as a web app in late 2023, and the NextMe 2.0 apps for iPhone and Android followed in February 2025. We read 50 reviews on Capterra and the App Store (NextMe 2.0 and the original app), and 42 of them predate the 2023 rebuild. Of the 50, 32 say it's easy to learn and use, 21 praise its hands-on, responsive support, and 12 mention using it at events such as conventions, expos and brand activations. The reasons to look elsewhere come partly from those reviews and mostly from NextMe's own help center.
Features reviewers asked for. Nine reviews, the newest from August 2024, mention missing features or limits, such as integrations, queue caps, a way to notify everyone, a manager mode, or a list that cleared itself the next day (Capterra and App Store reviews). NextMe's changelog has since added queue caps and bulk notify, and the time before guests clear from the list can now be set from 1 day up to years. Its one documented integration is Cvent; it also grants a partner API case by case for an extra fee, with no public documentation we could find, and offers custom integrations as paid work.
Tables live in a custom field. NextMe's help article on table management, dated May 2023, says table management and floor plans aren't offered yet but are planned (NextMe help center). None of the 82 help articles we read adds a table feature. The workarounds are a Table Number custom field that staff edit on the list and separate queues by table size. NextMe's 2026 roundup of waitlist apps calls TablesReady's table management stronger than its own and points complex full-service floors to us.
Bookings come from staff. NextMe's Bookings article says only the business can create a booking. On paid plans, staff add each one, and it slots into the queue at its time with a confirmation text and a reminder. We found no booking rules, Google bookings or deposits in NextMe's public material.
Logins capped by plan. NextMe's pricing page allows 1 user on Free, 5 on Starter and 10 on Business, and its help center says it rate-limits shared logins. A restaurant with more staff than that has to move up a plan or ask for a Custom quote.
Guests reply with fixed codes. NextMe guests reply 1 to confirm, 9 to cancel or, where the business allows it, 3 for more time, and NextMe's blog calls this two-way texting. We didn't find staff free-form replies in its help center, where bulk custom messages are listed as coming soon (Notifications article).
NextMe's 2026 roundup also lists $39 and $79 a month as TablesReady's annual prices. Those are the monthly prices of our entry Starter and Business tiers; billed annually, they're $34 and $69 a month. An August 2026 NextMe post comparing the two apps credits TablesReady with server rotation. We don't offer server rotation. TablesReady Business has round-robin seating, which offers the least-used tables first, and colour-coded sections on the floor plan.
Where NextMe goes further
NextMe does more than TablesReady in four areas:
- A branded page for waiting guests (Starter). The Virtual Waiting Room shows each guest's place in line and a countdown to return once they're called, alongside your own images, social links and colours, with a live preview while you edit. TablesReady's public waitlist page shows each guest's place in line and estimated wait with your logo, colours and text blocks, on every plan.
- Several queues at once. Each NextMe queue has its own wait method, a cap and a daily limit, and self check-ins can go to the first queue with room. Staff transfer guests between queues, with an optional transfer text. They can also notify, cancel or serve guests in bulk, and draw up to 100 waiting guests at random. TablesReady keeps one shared list with service and staff columns (Business) and texts each party on its own.
- Intake before a guest joins. On Starter, the check-in form can require a waiver from Jotform, Smartwaiver or DocuSign, and returning guests can fill the form from their last visit after an SMS code. Its 11 custom field types, including a date with a minimum age, come with every plan. On TablesReady, custom properties are a Business feature and a text can link to an outside form; both apps protect their check-in pages from bot sign-ups.
- A BAA and live chat. NextMe signs HIPAA BAAs on request and offers live chat, though its pages disagree on which plans get chat and phone support. We don't sign a BAA, and support is by email below Enterprise.
What TablesReady adds beyond a queue
We compared these against NextMe's help center, pricing page and app listings.
- A login for everyone, on every plan. Hosts, servers and managers each sign in as themselves, with an Admin, Manager or User role per location. NextMe allows 1 user on Free, 5 on Starter and 10 on Business.
- Self check-in on Free. Guests scan a QR code or open a link and add themselves to the list, on the free plan. NextMe starts self check-in on Starter.
- Tables and bookings on Business. Seat parties from a floor plan that shows each table's status, take bookings on your own page and from Google, and collect Stripe deposits. NextMe's help center says table management isn't offered yet and only staff create bookings. We found no Google bookings or deposits in its public material.
- A voice call when it's the guest's turn (Free). The ready message can go out as an automated phone call instead of a text. NextMe's notifications article said in June 2026 that it sends texts only, and WhatsApp followed in July.
- A reason when a text fails (Free). Each text in a guest's thread shows as sending, sent or failed. When a carrier returns a temporary error, we send the text again, and staff see the reason any text failed, such as an invalid number. NextMe reports an overall delivery rate in its Business analytics; we didn't find per-message status, retries or error reasons.
- Square orders and a to-go list (Business). Orders from Square POS and Square Online join the waitlist or a separate to-go list with the guest's name and items, and completing the order in Square can send the ready text. NextMe's August 2026 comparison says it isn't tied to a POS, and we found no Square integration.
- A documented API, webhooks and Zapier (Business). Your other systems can add and update parties through our REST API and hear about new, checked-in, served or cancelled parties through webhooks or Zapier. NextMe grants a partner API for an extra fee, with no public documentation we could find, and connects to Cvent.

NextMe details come from its own website, help center and app store listings. Where we couldn't find a feature, the table says so rather than calling it missing. Capterra ratings checked October 2026; G2 ratings checked October 2026. See something out of date? Email support@tablesready.com.
Switching from NextMe
Most restaurants switch in an afternoon: import upcoming bookings by CSV, paste in your text wording, and run both side by side during the trial.
What carries over
- Upcoming bookings, through a CSV you build. NextMe's Bookings button lists future bookings by date range; for each one, copy the date and time, guest name, party size, phone number and notes into a file, and our CSV import for reservations takes it on every plan, Free included.
- Your text wording. NextMe's Initial, Ready and Getting Close messages line up with our waitlist confirmation, ready and next-in-line texts. Retype each one and swap NextMe's variables, such as the guest's first name, for our merge fields.
What you set up again
- Your guest list. On NextMe Business, the Guest Report exports every guest with phone numbers and custom-field answers, so you can keep a copy. TablesReady has no customer import, so profiles and visit counts start again as guests come back. NextMe's guest data policy can retain, anonymise or delete guest details within an hour of the expiration threshold each location sets.
- Queues and custom fields. On Business, set up each NextMe queue as a service on our one shared list, and recreate its custom fields as custom properties on the staff and guest forms, choosing the closest of our field types.
- Your QR codes and waiting page. Print our check-in QR code (Free), then add your logo, colours and text to our guest pages, which take over from NextMe's check-in form and Virtual Waiting Room.
Help with the move
On Starter and Business, our support team answers setup questions by email, though we don't import data for you on those plans. Enterprise adds set-up help and data migration. NextMe gives no refund on an annual plan once it renews, so time our 14-day trial (no card, up to 150 texts) to finish before your renewal date, and keep NextMe running beside it until your staff are comfortable.

NextMe alternative FAQ
What is the best NextMe alternative?
For a restaurant that seats tables, takes bookings or has more staff than NextMe's user caps allow (1, 5 or 10 per plan), we'd pick TablesReady. Every plan has unlimited users, and Starter adds two-way texting for US and Canadian numbers, from $39/mo. Business adds the floor plan, online bookings, Reserve with Google and Stripe deposits, from $79/mo. For several queues with their own waits, look at Waitwhile, which also signs a HIPAA BAA on its Enterprise plan; for a free QR-code queue at an event counter, look at ScanQueue. We make TablesReady, so treat this answer as our view.
Does NextMe have table management or a floor plan?
NextMe's help article on the question, dated May 2023, says table management and floor plans aren't offered yet but are planned. None of the NextMe pages we read describes a table feature, and its suggested workaround is a Table Number custom field that staff edit on the list. TablesReady Business, from $79/mo, adds a floor plan you draw, live table status and table suggestions by party size. It doesn't sync table status from a POS.
Can guests book online with NextMe?
No. NextMe's Bookings article says bookings are created by the business only, so guests can't book themselves. On its paid plans, staff enter each booking, which joins the queue at its time with a confirmation and a reminder text. TablesReady staff can add basic reservations on Free, and Business, from $79/mo, adds an online booking page for your website, bookings from Google Search and Maps, and optional Stripe deposits.
How many users does NextMe allow?
NextMe allows 1 user on Free, 5 on Starter and 10 on Business, and its quoted Custom plan sets flexible limits. Each extra location is billed as another plan. Every TablesReady plan, Free included, has unlimited users, and one login can switch between any number of locations, each with its own subscription.
Is NextMe cheaper than TablesReady?
It depends on how many parties you text. On monthly billing, up to 500 a month, our Starter, from $39/mo, costs less. From 501 to 1,500, NextMe's Starter costs less, and at 2,500 our Starter is within a dollar of NextMe's Business plan; the pricing table above shows each tier. Every TablesReady plan has unlimited users, and the floor plan, online bookings and Stripe deposits on Business, from $79/mo, are features NextMe's public material doesn't describe.
Can NextMe staff text guests back?
Guests can reply to NextMe's texts with numbers: 1 to confirm, 9 to cancel and, if the business turns it on, 3 for more time. We didn't find a way in its help center for staff to type a reply of their own, and bulk custom messages are listed as coming soon. On TablesReady Starter, from $39/mo, staff can start or answer a text conversation with any guest on a US or Canadian number.
How do I switch from NextMe to TablesReady?
Set up your texts and check-in page on our free plan or the 14-day trial, which needs no card, while NextMe keeps running. Bring upcoming bookings over in a CSV, which our reservation import accepts on every plan; NextMe's own exports come with its Business plan. Guest profiles start fresh, since we can't import a customer list. Email support helps with setup on Starter and Business, and data migration comes with Enterprise. NextMe doesn't refund an annual plan after it renews, so switch before your renewal date.
